W.L. Starling, maintenance director of San Antonio’s Air Force Village I, takes home this year’s Texas Association of Homes and Services for the Aging (TAHSA) Housing Professional of the Year Award.
A sixteen-year Air Force Village veteran, Starling prides himself on providing personalized, warm and care-driven service to the home’s residents. “Being retired from the Air Force myself, I’ve always felt a strong bond with our residents, whom are all retired military officers or their spouses,” recounted Starling. “…The ‘little things’ mean a great deal to our residents and I’ve made it a point throughout my career to provide a level of service that included the smallest details…. [They go] a long way….”
Both Starling’s advanced experience as a military training instructor and human resources specialist and his friendly, affable and open demeanor have made him a valued and charismatic fixture at Air Force Village I.
Starling currently is the Safety Manager at Air Force Village I, San Antonio.
